About IBS Clinics

IBS Clinics specialises in alleviating the symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and other gut conditions which are share a similar symptom picture, this includes the Inflammatory Bowel Diseases of Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. IBS Clinics is also able to help sufferers of other diseases of which IBS is often a con-current condition such as : Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, Interstitial Cystitis, Restless Leg Syndrome and Acne Rosacea.

IBS Clinics see literally hundreds of patients each year who have IBS. A recent audit of the underlying causes of IBS for our patients revealed:

  • 73% have at least 4 food sensitivities
  • 15% had candida
  • 23% had one parasite or more
  • 46% had at least 1 pathogenic bacteria
  • 37% had Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO)
  • 91% had imbalanced gut flora (dysbiosis)
  • 1% were found to be coeliac
  • 3% were found to have high levels of inflammation in their gut (determined by stool test) and were referred back to their GP for further investigations (subsequently found to have either Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn’s disease)

Typically, our patients can expect to achieve significant reduction in symptoms at the time of their 3rd visit which is usually 3-4 months from the outset of investigations.

All IBS Clinics practitioners are Clinical Nutritionists who have qualified from an NTC registered Clinical Nutrition degree or Diploma course. Such courses require a minimum of 3 years of study involving continuous assessments and a high degree of patient consultation expertise. Once qualified Clinical Nutritionists must undertake a minimum of 40 hours of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) training each year, IBS Clinics practitioners conform and often surpass this standard.
